The Cycle of Slavery: Modern day slavery is perhaps the most prolific human rights abuse today, enslaving 27 million worldwide. In Sri Lanka, women looking for employment in the Middle East are often duped into situations of slavery, forced to perform back-breaking labor, for no pay, and endure beatings, starvation, and other abuse. Those who survive and are able to return home are often driven back to the Middle East by their families' dire circumstances, putting themselves in danger of becoming re-enslaved.

Breaking the Cycle: The Nivasa Foundation provides for the basic needs of the children of victims of human trafficking and slavery. By providing the children with food, clothing, and an education, we help mitigate the circumstances that might otherwise drive these mothers to seek employment in the Middle East, exposing themselves to human traffickers.

Where You Come In: Breaking the cycle of slavery requires the dedication of every individual. By volunteering your talents, contributing financially, and remaining vigilant, you can help end slavery. Click here to learn more about what you can do to become an anti-slavery activist.
